FietsSmid was founded by a former VanMoof bike mechanic who previously worked at the VanMoof service hub in Eindhoven. After VanMoof's bankruptcy on July 17, 2023, left many riders without support, he began helping local VanMoof users in his backyard, providing much-needed repairs to keep their bikes running. His dedication to VanMoof bikes and the cycling community quickly grew, and what started as a small project became a full-service repair shop.

To expand the shop’s expertise in electrical diagnostics, he teamed up with the founder of Kinef Designs, a specialist in electrical repairs. Together, they aim not only to fix electrical issues but to understand what causes them in the first place, working to extend the life of damaged components and improve the overall performance of VanMoof bikes. By repairing damaged electrical components rather than discarding them, we’re also recycling valuable parts, contributing to environmental sustainability.

At FietsSmid, we don’t just repair—we also educate our customers on how to get the best out of their VanMoof bike, offering tips and advice to prevent future problems. Our goal is to ensure every VanMoof rider can continue enjoying their bike for years to come while contributing to environmental sustainability.
